Stellest® Lenses for Myopia Management
Helping children see clearly today — and protecting their vision for
tomorrow.
What Is Myopia?
Myopia, or nearsightedness, is more than just blurry distance vision. It is a progressive eye condition that typically begins in childhood and worsens over time as the eye continues to grow too long. The higher the level of myopia, the greater the risk of serious eye health complications later in life — including retinal detachment, glaucoma, and early cataracts.
That’s why slowing myopia progression isn’t just about clearer vision — it’s about protecting your child’s long-term eye health.
Introducing Stellest® Lenses by Essilor
Stellest® lenses are an innovative spectacle lens solution designed specifically to slow the progression of myopia in children. Unlike standard corrective lenses that simply compensate for blurry vision, Stellest® lenses are engineered to address the underlying mechanism driving eye growth.
How Do They Work?
Stellest® lenses use a breakthrough technology called H.A.L.T. — Highly Aspherical Lenslet Target. Each lens contains 1,021 invisible lenslets arranged in a honeycomb pattern across the lens surface. These lenslets create a “volume of myopic defocus” in front of the retina, sending a signal to the eye to slow its elongation.
In simple terms: the lens corrects your child’s vision clearly in the center, while the surrounding lenslet zone gently tells the eye to stop growing so fast.
What Does the Research Show?
In a landmark clinical study, children wearing Stellest® lenses full-time (at least 12 hours per day) showed 71% slower myopia progression on average compared to children wearing standard single vision lenses — over a two-year period.
Is My Child a Candidate?
Stellest® lenses are an excellent option for children who:
- Have been diagnosed with myopia (nearsightedness)
- Are showing signs of progression (prescription increasing year over year)
- Prefer glasses over contact lenses, or are not yet ready for contact-based options
